Glossary for Malay translation of Development Readme (trunk)
Basic guidelines:-
- Most of the time, plural words are best translated into Malay as singular words. For example, “posts” can be translated into “kiriman” instead of “kiriman-kiriman”.
- Anda boleh menterjemah perkataan-perkataan bahasa Inggeris berbentuk jamak dan menukarnya kepada bentuk tunggal. Contohnya: Images -> Imej (tidak perlu dijamakkan maknanya kepada Imej-Imej).
- Sebaiknya, bentukkan ayat-ayat tersebut kepada ayat-ayat yang asli dari segi penggunaan bahasa, tetapi elakkan daripada ayat-ayat berbentuk bahasa basahan (colloquial).
- The Malay Style Guide by Facebook is an excellent document for our reference: https://fbcdn-dragon-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t39.2365-6/10173491_1501780586723244_1094225219_n.pdf
- Simply put, translations should be simple, to the point, and conversational.
- When in doubt, consult http://www.dbp.gov.my or translate.google.com
- When no other alternative word can be used, stick to the English word.
- Check for capitalisation and punctuation.
- Latest glossary will always appear in the Development project (https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp/dev/ms/default/glossary)
